So you've registered for Wasco Spring Baseball and can't wait to start playing baseball? Then plan on attending our next FREE Wasco Baseball Player Clinic!
Age groups 11-12 (Majors) from 7pm to 8:15pm / Age groups 13 and older (Pony, Colt) from 8:30pm to 9:45pm.
This players clinic will be limited to ages 11 and older only (10U travel teams may attend if desired) - but there will also be future player clinics at Strikers on both March 26th and April 2nd that will include the younger age groups too.
We are very pleased to announce that the clinic on February 12th will feature the following coaches below:
Dave Haskins - Head Varsity Coach – St Charles East
Dave Haskins spent two years as the head coach at Prairie Ridge High School. During that time he led the team to two Fox Valley Conference Titles, with a 28-2 record. They also were the 2008 Class 4A State Champions, and during his tenure there the Wolves boasted a 61-16 record. Haskins was named the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2008. Haskins started off his coaching career at Fremd High School (1998-2002) as the varsity assistant coach. In 2000 the Viking finished 4th in the Class AA State Tournament. He went across town to Palatine High School (2003-2007) where he continued as the varsity assistant coach under Paul Belo. As a player, Haskins attended Northeastern Illinois and his senior year he helped lead his team to a conference championship (1996) and a bid to the NCAA Regionals. Dave is currently a Physical Education/Adaptive PE teacher in Huntley, Illinois. Dave resides in Carpentersville with his wife, Kate, and their daughter, Annabelle.
Mick Matsie - Assistant Varsity Coach – St Charles East
Coach Matsie's follows Head Coach Dave Haskins from Prairie Ridge. He spent the last three years as a varsity assistant. In the summer '07 Coach Matsie guided the Prairie Ridge summer sophomore team to the state championship. His role on the varsity will consist of working with the hitters and coaching first base. Coach Matsie played four years of college baseball at McHenry County College and Rockford College where he was a team captain and all-conference. He currently works at Prairie Ridge High School as a teacher assistant. Matsie also coaches a prospect team along with the varsity summer St. Charles East team. Coach Matsie is looking forward to being on Dave Haskins's varsity staff and taking the program to another level.
